"M" Hike!

Bozeman is a college town, so we have the typical letter on the mountain that goes along with it.  The "M" is probably the most popular hike in town because it's so convenient and is a pretty good grade that even the kiddos can climb.  We hike the "M" a few times a year, and this Saturday morning it seemed like the perfect way to start out our day.

We had a birthday party to attend Saturday afternoon, so we knew we needed something a little quick, but still fun. The "M" was the perfect solution.  It was an absolutely gorgeous morning.  The wildflowers were in full bloom and we could see for miles.  We sure live in a pretty spot!

High Five for Friday!

Friday is here again!  It's been a quick week since we didn't get back from vacation until mid-day on Monday.  I honestly can't believe it's already the weekend again!

It was short, but we certainly had a good week around here.  Here's a look at the top 5:
  1. Our new niece was born on Saturday morning while we were out of town, so we finally got to meet her Monday afternoon when we got back.  She's a sweet little thing, and boy was it fun to hold a newborn again.  I think Drew might need a little brother or sister. ;)
  2. Drew has been back to his extremely happy, cute self now that he doesn't have to spend his nights in a pack n play.  He's so stinking funny and every day I'm impressed by him.  What a little cutie!

  3. We had such a fun time in Fort Collins, and when we got back, Doug found some official pictures of himself during the Xterra.  They are a little better than what my awesome photography skills captured! What a stud!

  4. It's been tough to get a good family picture of the three of us.  Drew doesn't always cooperate, but after our dinner at Fort Collins brewery after a long day of riding, we got a good one.  I sure am lucky to have such a wonderful husband and the sweetest little boy on the planet!
  5. Thursday was date night, and it couldn't have been more needed.  It's always fun to go out one night of the week so I don't have to cook! We ended the night with a $.50 cone, which is always fine by me!!

Hope you all had a wonderful week too!  Happy Friday!

A Prayer for My Son

I came across this prayer for a son the other day on Pinterest.  It really struck me and I instantly knew it needed to be a part of my daily prayer.

Drew is growing up so fast, and sometimes I get a little sad that it is going by so quickly.  I can't believe he's already over a year old.  It seems like just yesterday that I was pregnant and preparing for him to join our family and change our lives forever.  That he did, in the best possible way ever.  I love him more than I ever even knew was possible.  He is my joy and I cannot imagine a life without him.

As he grows each day, he becomes more and more of a little boy with his own thoughts, needs, opinions, and desires.  I love watching him grow into the boy he is going to become.  So yes, Dear Lord, please watch over him as he goes along his way.  He is my light and happiness and I love him more each day!

Fort Collins Weekend!

We're back!  We had a fun long weekend in Fort Collins, but I think we're all happy to be home.  We experienced a little bit of sleep deprivation, so it will be nice to get back into our own beds this week.  Drew, our usually superb traveler, didn't love hotel life, so we had a few long nights and dealt with a sleepy, slightly crabby little guy all weekend.  He was still a trooper and was pretty good during the days though.

We left Thursday after Doug got home from work and stayed the night in Sheridan, WY.  The next morning, we woke up and drove the rest of the way to Fort Collins.  We checked into the hotel and grabbed some lunch while we waited for my sister and brother-in-law to arrive.  Once our travel buddies showed up, the boys went to pick up their race packets and the girls and Drew went shopping.  We all met up for dinner at the Bent Fork, which was really good.  After dinner, we made our way back to the hotel so the boys could rest up for their big race.

Saturday morning, the boys woke up early to make it to their race.  My sister, Drew, and I left a little later so we wouldn't have to wait around as long and also so we could sleep in a little later.  The race started at 8 am and we cheered the boys on while they competed in the Xterra.  They both did great and met their personal goals for the race, so that was pretty awesome!

After the race on Saturday, we made our way back to the hotel to shower up and get ready for our afternoon of biking and brewery touring.  We met Doug's cousin and her children at Black Bottle Brewing for lunch.  They live in Loveland, so we figured it would be nice to catch up with them while we were in their neck of the woods.  After Black Bottle, we biked all around Fort Collins and ended up making it to quite a few breweries.  Unfortunately, Bri got a flat tire while we were en route to the last brewery of the night, so the girls walked their bikes to the hotel while the boys hit the last brewery.  It was a beautiful afternoon and we had lots of fun biking around Fort Collins.

Sunday morning, we woke up and went to breakfast.  After breakfast, we packed up and checked out of the hotel.  We went to an outlet mall that was pretty close to Fort Collins and did some shopping before having some lunch and heading home.  Doug, Drew, and I stopped in Sheridan again, so we didn't actually make it home until Monday afternoon.

It was a quick trip, but it was fun to see my sister and her husband and the boys had fun doing the Xterra!  Here are some pictures from the weekend!

We pack a little heavier nowadays with a baby!

Horsetooth Reservoir where the swim part of the Xterra was held.

The transition area.  Almost 400 people competed in this Xterra!

Drew was not overly thrilled to watch the Xterra!  He wanted to MOVE!

Doug coming in from the swim.  Do you see him?  My awesome photography skills got him just as this guy stepped in front of him!

Transitioning to the bike.

It was a little overcast, which helped it not get too hot.

There he goes!
