High Five for Friday!

It's Friday!!  I'm so excited that it's Friday, and even more excited that my Christmas break will truly start tomorrow.  I can't wait to spend some time with my husband and Drew.  Vacations and breaks are the best!

It was a fun, but extremely busy week for us.  We had dinners and parties galore!  We got to spend some time with great friends and family, so that made the week even better.  Here are some highlights:

  1. Drew has learned some new tricks, and he's keeping me laughing along the way.  He's become a master tongue clicker and he can move around the house like it's nothing, so baby-proofing is in my near future.  One of the most exciting things he got figured out this week is using his sippy cup.  In the past, he’s struggled to understand how the cup works, but for some reason, this week, he had it down.  It's so fun watching him learn and grow.  He's just the best!

  1. We had dinner with friends on Wednesday night, and then met up with another friend who was in from out of town for drinks afterwards.  It was great to catch up with them all, and we enjoyed good conversation, good food, and good drinks.

  1. It's feeling pretty Christmas-y around our house, and I've been loving it.  We watched the Voice finale and enjoyed some hot chocolate!  We're getting in the spirit!

  1. Doug's office Christmas party was last night.  We had Doug's brother and sister-in-law watch Drew while we attended the dinner.  It was a fun night out, but we always miss Drew when he's not around.  Before the party, Doug had to quickly snowblow, and since our snowblower is still not fixed, our wonderful neighbors let us borrow theirs again.  We truly have the nicest neighbors, which just so happens to be another great thing about our new house.  We took them a plate full of Christmas goodies to thank them.  I think their four kids were pretty excited!

  1. Drew has been my little buddy this week.  I've drug him along on some pretty boring errands, and he's been such a trooper.  We wrapped a million presents (ok, maybe not a million, but it felt like it), went Christmas shopping, did laundry, and many other not so fun activities, and he hung in there like a champ.  He's such a good little guy!

Like I mentioned yesterday, Christmas break starts for us tomorrow!  I'm so excited.  Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and that you get some time off to enjoy the holidays!

Christmas Break

It's just about time for Christmas break.  Of course, I'm not in college anymore, so the break is a little less stress-free and a little more self-decided, but it's a break nonetheless.  We will be leaving for Rapid on Saturday, so I will have a high five for Friday post tomorrow, and then I will be off until December 30th.  I'm excited for a little break and some time to spend with family.  It's the best time of year, and I can't wait to celebrate!

We still have a busy week around here before we can take off Saturday morning.  We have Doug's office Christmas party tonight and a bunch of errands to run tomorrow that need to be done before year end for tax planning purposes.  How fun, right?  Not to mention laundry and packing.  It's amazing how much stuff a baby requires!  Anyway, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and you get to spend it with the ones you love.  I'll leave you with a sleepy Drew, just because he's cute!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all!!!

Is this the North Pole?!

Christmas time is upon us, and I'm so very excited.  It's my favorite time of year, and I patiently await it all year through.  I love the sights, smells, and sounds of Christmas, and this year is no exception.  One of my very favorite things to do is decorate.  If it were up to me, this house would look like Clark Griswold's in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.  My husband keeps me in check, but I work for just a little bit more every year!

Here are some pictures from around our house:

I love the decorations that we have so far, and I have to say, our house is pretty darn festive!  I'm already excited for the after-Christmas sales so I can stock up on even more decorations for next year.  I'm sure my husband will be thrilled!  Merry Christmas everyone!  Hope you're enjoying the season as much as I am!

Lately

Drew has been doing some seriously cute stuff lately that I just have to share.  It seems he learns something new every day, and it's so fun to see his little personality develop.  He's quite funny and makes me laugh all the time.  I know they always say it, but it really is true, he is more fun every day.

He recently learned how to click his tongue.  It's so cute, and he does it quite frequently.  In fact, I woke up to him doing it this morning.  Here's a video of it.  So cute!

He's also recently learned how to use a sippy cup.  I gave him juice for the first time a few weeks ago, and he could not figure out how to work the sippy cup for the life of him.  He'd suck on the handle or the cup itself, he didn't quite understand.  Once he learned where he was supposed to suck, he didn't understand that the cup had to be tilted upward for anything to come out.  Anyway, yesterday I gave him his cup, and he immediately had it figured out.  I'm not sure how it happened, but yesterday he was a pro!

Since videos seem to be working today, I thought I'd also share the video of Drew and his friend Sarah from last week.  They are as cute as can be.

So, there you go, a little Drew fix on this Tuesday morning.  What a love!

Weekend Rewind

The weekend started out really great, but ended on a low note.  Unfortunately, Doug got really sick on Sunday, which kind of put a damper on the day.  We had a terrific Friday and Saturday though, so overall, it was a pretty good weekend.

Friday night, we went to the Winter Art Walk in downtown Bozeman.  It was a nice night, and we enjoyed some art, some wine, and some Christmas shopping.  The downtown Christmas lights are up, so it put us all in a festive mood.  After the art walk, we went to Doug's brother's house for a Christmas party.  It was a good time, and we enjoyed even more Christmas spirit there.

Saturday morning, we woke up to this beautiful sunrise.  Talk about gorgeous!

On Saturday, Doug's parents watched Drew for us, so we were able to go skiing for the first time this winter.  And since I didn't ski last year because I was pregnant, it was my first time in two years!  It was a beautiful day, and it was fun to be back on the slopes.  I sure missed skiing last winter!

Saturday night, after we got home from skiing, we had our signature meal of pizza and sushi and watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, which is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies.  It was a pretty good night!

Unfortunately, Saturday night as we were going to bed, Doug mentioned that his stomach hurt and by Sunday morning, he was in rough shape.  I have never seen my husband so sick.  He didn't shower until well into the afternoon, which is very out of character for him, and was in bed by 6:45 Sunday night.  Poor guy.  I'm hoping that he feels better today and that it's nothing too serious.  There's nothing worse than being sick for the holidays.

Sunday morning, Drew and I did some Christmas shopping, while we hoped that Doug would start feeling better.  We actually got quite a bit accomplished, so that was nice.  However, Doug still wasn't feeling better by the afternoon, so Drew and I went home to take care of him.

The beginning of this weekend was great.  Hopefully this sickness vacates our home soon and Drew and I don't get it too.  I hate when Doug is sick, so I'm hoping for a quick recovery.  Well, hope you all had wonderful and productive weekends too!  Only nine more days until Christmas.  Happy Monday!

High Five for Friday!

It’s been a busy and fun week full of Christmas activities.  I can’t believe it’s already Friday again.  The weeks keep flying by.  I guess that’s how it goes during the holidays.  So much to do and so little time to do it!  Let’s recap the top five of the week:

1.      We finally got our Christmas tree up and decorated.  It looks great, and I’m reminded of how much I love the smell of a freshly cut Christmas tree in the house.  It’s a tradition that I truly love, and now it feels much more like Christmas.

2.      On Wednesday, I got all of our Christmas cards in the mail.  It’s always a ton of work, but I sure love the tradition of reaching out to loved ones during the holiday season and updating them on the highlights of your year.  It’s fun to see pictures of and hear stories about all of our friends and family.

3.      Also on Wednesday, we went to Figgy Pudding, which is a Christmas program put on by our church. Drew got all dressed up for the occasion, and looked pretty spiffy in his Christmas sweater vest.  What a cutie!

4.      Last night, we had dinner at Doug’s brother’s house, and we also babysat for some friends that have a daughter about one month younger than Drew.  It was fun to watch the babies interact.  They sure are cute.  I tried to upload a video, but for some reason, it isn't working.  I will continue to try to get it uploaded today because it is adorable!

5.      Drew has been working on his crawling and he’s getting so close!  He’s been able to scoot himself around, and he’s an excellent roller, but he hasn’t quite mastered the traditional crawl.  He’s getting there though, which means my easy days of a non-mobile baby are just about over!

Hope you are all enjoying the holiday season! Happy Friday!!
