Financial Statements?

As I've mentioned before, after having Drew, I decided to leave the workforce and stay home with him full-time.  I have loved every minute of it (ok, maybe not EVERY minute of it when he's pooping out of his diaper or screaming at the top of his lungs!).  It's so fun to get to spend so much time with him, watching him learn and grow each day, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I do, however, sometimes miss the workout my brain used to get on a daily basis.  Trying to figure out a tough accounting question, or preparing financial statements, I enjoyed the challenge of my jobs in the accounting world.  And sometimes I miss doing some of those things, like preparing financial statements, that were an everyday part of my world just a few months ago.  Luckily, I married a man who just so happens to work in the same field as me.  And so, even though I'm retired for the time being, I have been able to help him with some of his daily and monthly tasks. I've been working on financial statements for him again, and while it is definitely work, especially with a baby who needs LOTS of attention, I welcome the challenge and like getting back to that old frame of mind that I used to be in every day.  It's been fun to exercise my accounting knowledge again and truth be told, I also like helping my husband!

Today is one of those days where I'm working on financial statements in between feeding Drew, changing his diaper, playing with him, addressing Christmas cards, and doing laundry.  And you know what, it feels good.  I like a challenge and I like to be busy, so it's been great.  Not to mention, it helps me know that I'm not losing all of my accounting knowledge while I raise our son.

So here's to accounting and to financial statements!  Oh, the fun!
