High Five for Friday!

Happy Friday friends!  I'm so excited that it's the weekend again.  My sister, brother-in-law, and mom are coming to visit this weekend which makes me happy.  I always love having my family around.

It's been a good week for the Neil household.  We've had incredibly warm weather, which made it possible for us to get outside and have some extra Fall fun.  Here's a wrap up of the week!

  1. On Tuesday night, Doug and I were watching The Voice.  Drew's bedroom is right next to the living room where we were watching, and as I've mentioned before, Drew lives for music.  Well, I'm pretty sure he could hear the music coming from The Voice and he couldn't sleep.  At about 8:30 pm, we heard his little voice coming from his bedroom. I went to check on him and he was wide awake.  We decided to let him come hang out in the living room with us so he could dance to the music.  He was so excited that we let him get up.  It was about the cutest thing ever!

  2. Wednesday was a beautiful day, so we went on a family hike that evening up Triple Tree.  The leaves were beginning to change color and it was gorgeous.  What a fun way to spend the evening!

  3. Drew and I have been playing machines this week.  He's growing up so fast and it's been so fun to watch him progress.  He's a curious little guy and so we do lots and lots of playing!

  4. Yesterday was a bit of a tough day for me and my family.  My grandpa had unexpected surgery, so we've all been thinking about and praying for him.  If you're the praying kind, he could use some prayers!  Anyway, it was a tough day to say the least, so getting out of the house for dinner and date night was much needed.  We had dinner downtown and then went to the Wildrye distillery where they had some live music that little Drew man could dance to.  It was a nice way to take my mind off things and unwind a little.  We love you grandpa Ross!

  5. This weekend is homecoming for MSU.  We're planning on going to the football game, even though it sounds like the weather is going to be less than ideal now.  We may try to hit the parade as well, we'll see.  I'm just looking forward to having some family here.  That always makes for a good weekend!

Hope you had a great week and are ready to enjoy the weekend.  Happy Friday!

Fall Hiking - Triple Tree!

It was absolutely beautiful yesterday!  We almost reached 90 degrees, which is unseasonably warm for us around here.  I think we are supposed to be nearly 90 again today, and then the weather is supposed to take a turn for the worse come Friday.  We wanted to make the most of this beautiful weather, so we decided to do a short hike when Doug got home from work yesterday.

We settled on doing the Triple Tree loop.  It turns out we did this same hike about this same time last year.  You can read about that here (Drew was a little smaller then!).  We always like to do this hike in the Fall because it is full of trees with changing leaves and is extra beautiful this time of year.  We were a little early for the full effect of the changing leaves, but it was still beautiful and definitely felt like Fall (aside from the 80 degree weather!).

We had a great hike and a beautiful evening for it!  We even saw a band filming a music video on the trail.  Pretty neat!

Drew messing with dad.  He had both pointers in dad's ears!

It's hard to see, but this is the band shooting the music video.  I bet it's gorgeous when they get it done!

What a beautiful evening and a fun family hike!  We love Fall!!

Blue & Gold Weekend!

We had another crazy busy weekend, full of fun!  Friday night was the Blue & Gold Fall Party, which is a fundraiser for Bobcat athletics.  It's a wine tasting event that was held at the stadium this year.  Doug and I have gone every year that I haven't been pregnant and it is definitely one of our favorite events.  The last couple years it has been held at a hotel ballroom, so it was kind of nice to change it up this year and have it at the football stadium.  Gram was nice enough to watch Drew for the evening too, so Doug and I could attend.

This year, we went to the event with some friends.  We had dinner at their house and then made our way to the party.  We had so much fun.  There were quite a few wineries represented, and of course they had hors d'oeuvre and desserts.  The Blue & Gold Fall Party is always a fun night of wine tasting, eating, and discussing MSU athletics!!

Saturday was another home football game.  The Cats played the number two team in the country.  I think most people expected us to get beat pretty handily, but the Bobcats played really well and ended up only losing by one.  We should have won too, but had a couple bad breaks at the end.  It was an exciting, super loud game, and a fun way to spend a Saturday!!

Sunday we were going to go for another hike, but when we woke up, it was a little windy. I was tired of being turned away from the summit of all of our hikes due to wind, so we decided to do something different. We settled on a city bike tour like we had done a couple times this last Spring.  We made some stops at parks for Drew to play, watched a couple soccer games of our nephew, and had lunch at Ted's Montana Grill. It was a beautiful day, and a bike ride was a great way to spend it.  We had lots of fun!!

Overall, it was another really great weekend.  We've really been making the most of our weekends lately, and although they completely wipe me and Drew out, they sure are a lot of fun!

Next weekend my sister and brother-in-law are coming for the weekend, and hopefully my mom too.  It's the homecoming football game, and I think the boys have some mountain biking planned as well.  It should be another great one, and we're looking forward to it!!
