Winter Fun in Spring!

Oh Monday, I can't believe you're already here again!  The weekends always go by so fast.  We had a good one though, full of fun!

Saturday night, we went to dinner with friends that have a daughter about a month younger than Drew.  It was so fun to watch the babies interact.  It's pretty neat that we have children so close in age and it's going to be fun to watch them grow up together.

Sunday, Doug and I went to Big Sky for a day of skiing.  Doug's parents watched Drew so that we could get one last ski day in before the end of the season.  Although it didn't feel like the end of the season up there.  There was SO MUCH SNOW!!!!  And it snowed all day too.  It's crazy how much snow we still have for it being April tomorrow.  I think it's going to be a late spring and summer judging by the amount of snow that has to melt!

Needless to say, the skiing was great because there was so much snow.  It was a little tough on my legs, which are way out of skiing shape, but overall it was a great day of skiing!  It's always fun to spend time just Doug and me.  Drew takes a lot of time, effort, and work, which can sometimes cut into our time for each other, so it's always nice to spend time just the two of us!

It was a great day, but we were pretty excited to get home to see Drew though.  We always miss him when he's not there!

Last night, Drew practiced walking with the walker.  He did it perfectly a few days ago, but he took a pretty hard fall, so he's been scared ever since.  Both Doug and I were there to help last night, and it took him a minute, but he got the hang of it again.  It's so fun to watch him walk, I just can't believe it! Here's a video of him walking with the walker, and taking a spill too!

Hope you all had great weekends too.  It's snowing here again today, so it's not looking like we're going to experience that Spring weather any time soon.  Good thing we are headed to the beach in a little over two weeks!!

High Five for Friday

I can't believe it's already Friday.  This week has flown by!  It was an exciting week around here as Drew took his first unassisted steps!  He's getting more and more brave every day and I have a feeling he will be walking in a few weeks!  It's so hard to believe that my baby is almost walking!

We had lots of fun this week and kept really busy.  Here's a recap of the highlights!

  1. Obviously, Drew taking his first few steps was the highlight of the week.  He's getting so big.  It's hard to believe that just 11 months ago he was a newborn.  He has progressed quickly and I think Doug and I are in for a wild ride with him!
  2. We had date night last night at Seven Sushi.  I was a little hesitant because, although I do like sushi, I have a hard time believing that it is a meal.  I never seem to get very full after eating sushi.  I have to admit though, it was excellent!  The sushi was the best I've ever had!  I was really impressed and I'm already looking forward to our next visit.  It is funny because the first time I ever ate sushi, I thought it was literally the WORST thing I had ever put in my mouth.  I hated it!  After moving to Bozeman, it became a regular part of my dining experiences because the people that I worked with and spent time with were all sushi fanatics, so I had it more often than I would have liked.  But I have to say, it has grown on me, and now I actually really like it.  I even get cravings for it sometimes.  Weird, I know.  I never thought after that first bite I took that I would ever willingly choose to eat sushi!

  3. We've been letting Drew do more self-feeding and he had quite the episode with an avocado earlier this week.  It was fun to watch him do it, but boy was it messy!  I can see I'm going to have to get better at letting the mess happen because there's nothing clean about Drew feeding himself!  For a clean freak, that might be challenging!

  4. It's still winter out there, but Drew and I were able to go on a walk earlier this week.  Doug went for a run after work, so it was just Drew and me until bedtime, so we decided to go for a short walk.  It was fun to get outside and it helped calm Drew down before we began the bedtime routine.

  5. I started working on Drew's first birthday present this week.  I'm pretty excited about it.  I haven't made too much progress because I've changed my mind about some things and other things are taking much longer than expected.  I better get moving though since his birthday will be here before we know it!
Happy Friday folks!  Hope you enjoy the day and have a great weekend!

Happy Thursday!!

Ever since I heard the song, Happy by Pharrell Williams, I've been hooked!  It's such an upbeat tune with a great message.  It's stuck in my head almost every morning, and today was no exception.  Drew and I watched the video and he laughed and clapped along so I think he approves too.  If you need a little pick me up today, watch this and sing along!

Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth! Clap along if you know what happiness is to you!  Because I'm happy!!

Steps!!!!

Drew has been motoring around the living room for quite some time.  He moves from furniture piece to furniture piece without much trouble.  Up until yesterday though, if two pieces of furniture were more than an arm's length apart, he would get down and crawl from one to the other and pull himself back up again.  I'm not sure what happened yesterday, but the daredevil must have gotten into him and he started taking the step between the two pieces of furniture rather than crawling.  It was like he decided that he wasn't going to settle for the crawl and wanted to stay on his feet the whole time.  Don't get me wrong, it wasn't pretty, and often looked like it would result in a faceplant, but it was pretty exciting to watch him gain the confidence to try.

Anyway, since Drew was so brave all day long, I thought that we should try having him walk between Doug and I when Doug got home last night.  We've tried in the past, but Drew hasn't really been too interested in taking steps.  He would go from one of us to the other as long as we were holding on to him the entire time.  Well, last night he actually took some steps without anyone holding on!!!!  It was pretty dang exciting.  It's funny how his little accomplishments effect me so much.  I get so excited for him and my heart actually starts to beat fast.  It was pretty incredible.  I can't imagine how I'm going to feel when he actually starts walking.  Here's a video of Drew's first steps!

We're pretty proud of him and I get the feeling that we are not far from him being able to walk all by himself.  It's pretty exciting!!

Aside from working on walking, I got a few good pictures of Drew yesterday.  He took a nap and had some serious bed head going on.  His hair is getting so long, so he can really work up some good bed head!  We also went for a walk and his hat did a number on his hair too.  Good thing he's so darn cute!

Weekend Fun!

As you know, my sister and her husband came to visit us this weekend.  We had a great time and it was so much fun spending some time with them in Bozeman.  My sister's husband hasn't spent much time here, so we had fun showing him around a bit.

They arrived Friday night and we had some pizza and watched some March Madness.  Drew entertained us with his ever-changing faces and noises! We were all pretty tired from the long week, so we went to bed fairly early.

Doug had to work Saturday, so I was the entertainment committee on Saturday.  Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate very well and it was freezing.  We went to Peet's Hill in the morning to get a good view of the city.  The wind was howling and it was freezing, so we didn't stay long.  That was kind of a bummer because it's a great place to get a good feel for the town and where everything is.  After our quick stop at Peet's Hill, we went downtown to walk around and do some shopping.  It was even cold down there, so we hurried from store to store and bolted down the shady side of Main.  It was fun to experience downtown, but I wish the temperature had been a touch warmer.

We met Doug for lunch at MacKenzie River.  We had some delicious sandwiches and soup and then did a little more shopping before we headed home so Drew could take a nap.  Saturday afternoon we just hung around the house while Drew napped and watched a little basketball.  Doug got home a little after four, and we headed down to Lockhorn Cider to get some hard cider.  My sister is a fan of hard cider and I think she thought it was alright.  Lockhorn's cider is not overly sweet, so it definitely takes some getting used to!

After cider, we went to dinner at Copper.  We had an excellent meal!  After dinner, we stopped at the R Bar for an after dinner drink.  We were lucky enough that Drew fell asleep after having some dinner, so we even got some relaxing adult conversation in.

Sunday morning, we had some breakfast and then headed to Hyalite to do some snowshoeing.  It was cold up there as well, but we made do.  The snowshoe was fun, right along the lake, so we had some good views.  Drew was not thrilled with the walk back and I think he got cold, so we really had to hurry.  Once we made it back to the car, he was all smiles and giggles again, so that was good.  After the snowshoe, we headed back to town, had some lunch, and then my sister had to leave.  Bummer!

It was so fun having them come visit.  We had a great weekend, even though it was a little colder than we would have liked.  Now we can't wait to have them back again!

And a beautiful sunset to end a beautiful weekend!

High Five for Friday!

It's Friday!  This has been one LONG week.  I'm so happy that it's finally Friday.  It's going to be a great weekend and I can't wait to get it started!

Here's a roundup of the highlights of the week:

  1. We had every intention of staying in last night and cleaning the house because my sister is coming to stay with us this weekend and I wanted to get the house clean for them, but somehow we ended up on an impromptu date night instead!  We went to the cider place for a quick cider before dinner.  I couldn't help but notice how grown up my baby looked in his coat and sneakers.  He's looking more and more like a toddler every day.  After getting a cider, we went to Pizza Campania for dinner.  We were even lucky enough to have Drew fall asleep at dinner, so we got some uninterrupted adult time as well.  It was pretty nice.  We ended the night watching some March Madness on the couch.  It was a great date night! (But our house still isn't clean :-/)

  2. My sister is coming to visit this weekend!  Enough said!
  3. Monday was St. Patrick's Day, and although Drew and I didn't leave the house, we were sporting our green.  He looked so cute in his St. Paddy's Day green that I had to snap a few pictures!

  4. March Madness has officially begun!  I didn't do so hot in the first round, so I'm hoping for improvement in the second round.  I almost picked two of the upsets yesterday, but chickened out. Turns out, my high school teachers were right, you should always go with your gut!
  5. Spring is here!  Maybe not in warm weather, but I guess it is officially Spring now.  I'm so excited for warmer weather and getting to spend more time outside with both Drew and Doug!
Have a great Friday and a great weekend everyone!
