Triple Tree

One of my favorite Fall activities is hiking.  There’s just something about being out in the clean, crisp air among the trees with their beautifully changing leaves that makes me happy! And it just so happens that hiking is one of the activities we can do pretty easily with Drew.  He’s a trooper and seems to like it as well.  We’ve gradually worked up his distance and this Sunday we went six miles with no trouble.

The weather was supposed to be terrible on Sunday, so I didn’t think we’d get much fun in outside, but when we woke up, it looked pretty nice, so Doug suggested we take off for a hike early to try to beat the weather.  We loaded up Drew and headed out to the Triple Tree trailhead, which is pretty darn close to our new house!  It’s a hike that we had done before, but we’d heard that they completely changed the trail, so we were excited to check it out.

The hike was beautiful.  As you can see from the pictures, the leaves were beginning to change color up there.  The new trail was fun and a definite improvement.  It was much less steep and a little bit longer than it used to be which was nice.  Drew did great, as usual.  He was fascinated with the trees and waving leaves. He’s so curious and I love watching him take in the world around him.

I’m sure within the next couple weeks, the leaves will really be changing up there.  I think we’ll try to get out and do the Triple Tree hike again to take in the colors. It was a fun Sunday activity and the perfect way to ease into Fall.

  1. It was a great hike! My only comment is regarding your sentence "we went six miles with no trouble." There was a 15 minute stretch of hiking while holding his pacifier in his mouth while he was wiggling around looking for space in the Ergobaby. :) Other than that, he was definitely a perfect hiking companion!

  2. Ha, you're such an exaggerator! It was probably two minutes. He could have been trying to jump out of the backpack like that other boy we saw!
